Following a summer of price hikes, members of the City Council want to make sure service stations are not raising their gas prices too quickly. The council’s Consumer Affairs Committee is planning a hearing to look into how stations are complying with a law barring them from raising prices more than once every 24 hours.
The committee will also consider a proposal to require signs indicating whether a station charges different prices for cash or credit.
According to AAA, the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the city is $4.10.
