Walla News reports today, that Turkish news sources announced the arrival of CIA Director David Petraeus. It is being reported that the CIA director landed in Istanbul to address the deteriorating situation in Syria, adding the senior official’s arrival was kept secret due to security concerns.
During his stay, Petraeus will be meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, and National Intelligence Organization (MİT) Undersecretary Hakan Fidan.
Walla questions if the US administration has dispatched such a senior official to calm the regional situation ahead of an Israeli assault against Iran. The report adds that a senior official declined to comment when asked if Petraeus will be stopping in Israel after leaving Turkey for a meeting with Prime Minister Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on the backdrop of the heightening conflict between Jerusalem and Washington over a possible Israeli attack against Iran.
