Ariel University’s Professor Edward Bormashenko’s of the Faculty of Engineering may have found the solution to a clean home, using nanotechnology to prevent dust. His team created a low-cost hydrophobic material to keep surfaces clean. The professor explains that the material could be used to keep surfaces dust free, such as a vehicle, as well as tents dry during a rainstorm because it has the ability to repel both water and dirt, as well as oil.

The hydrophobic material is a dream come true, repelling water, dust and oil. It could have major ramifications in many areas as it is explained that once the material is applied to a surface, it will prevent dust for a long period, even on rough surfaces.

“The fact that the production cost of the material is relatively low compared to similar materials means that the sky is the limit,” Bormashenko said.
