Justice Minister Prof. Yaakov Ne’eman accepted the recommendations to curtail the life sentences of seven Arab terrorists, passing his recommendation to President Shimon Peres, who also approved the process. The two accepted the recommendations of the committee that reviewed the cases of the arch terrorists.

Among the terrorists is Karim Yunis, who in 1981 murdered IDF soldier Avraham Bromberg HY”D. Yunis’ sentence was reduced from life to 40 years, which means he will be released in nine years.

Walid Daka, arrested in 1986, had his life sentence reduced to 37 years. He was convicted for his part in the abduction and murder of IDF soldier Moshe Tamam HY”D in 1984. He is a member of the Popular Front terror organization.

Samir Sarsawi was convicted in 1988 of a grenade attack on Nordau Street in Haifa. His sentence was reduced to 30 years.

Maher Yunis, arrested in 1983 had his sentence curtailed to 40 years.

Rushdi Abu Much and Ibrahim bin Nabu Abu Much were arrested in 1986 and their sentences cut to 35 years.

The sentence of Ibrahim Biadseh, arrested in 1986, had his sentence reduced to 45 years.

The family of slain soldier Bromberg HY”D is calling on lawmakers to curtail the presidential powers and to strip him of the ability to grant clemency, pained by the news that the murderers will one day be released. The family adds that this is “crossing a red line” and the state is breaking its promise to never release terrorists “with blood on their hands”.
