Is Rav Dov Lior Leaving Kiryat Arba?

Rumors are spreading that 79-year-old Rav Dov Lior Shlita, who has served as the chief rabbi of Kiryat Arba for over three decades is leaving Kiryat Arba and moving to Yerushalayim. He has also served alongside Rav Eliezer Waldman Shlita as rosh yeshiva of the Nir Hesder Yeshiva.

According to a Srugim report, in recent months the rav purchased a home in Beit HaChoshen in the A-Tor area of Yerushalayim and there is growing speculation that he plans to relocate to the capital. The report states that some of the people close to the rav wish to bring him to the heart of Jerusalem matters, and they are working on persuading him to relocate.

Aides to the rav were asked to confirm or deny the report. Yossi Dremer, the rav’s assistance adamantly denies the accuracy of the report. “The information is incorrect. The rabbi does not plan to relocate in the short term” he told the media.

  1. He has been a frequent source of controversy as a result of his writings and comments which seem to “excuse” an even condone attacks by settlers against Palestinians.

  2. Rav Lior is a chasuva ben torah who is admired and respected in many circles. I find that comment #1 is complete lashon harah and inaccurate.

  3. #1 (mr/ms) gadolhador

settlers is a goyishe term denoting that shomron is not shayach to the jewish people, PERIOD.

2nd it is the lack of settlers that now rockets are howling over the skies meant for the kindergartens of our families of sderot.

3rd settlers is a european term for the gullible to denote some imaginary line which the enemies of the jewish people dont see. that is that tel aviv is really originally SHEIKH MUNIS.

point is i advise that setting times for any sort of torah study is crucial and warming wether it be chumash mishna mesilat yesharim or if ure into tanya or chafetz chaim.

i hope in the future that we can count on being a champion of the cause of the jewish people and all parts of their torah. and leave the convolutions for enemies of the jewish people.

    g-d bless you.

  4. Harav Lior is one of the greatest talmidei chachamim alive today, and deserves the respect that that entails. Any “controversy” over his piskei din comes only from those who hate Hashem and His Torah. He doesn’t say anything new, just what’s in the Shulchon Oruch and poskim.
