While the only body legally permitted to grant hashgacha in Israel is the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, there are many ‘badatzim’ on the scene as well, some recognized and some not.

Well it appears there is a new player on the block, originating in PA (Palestinian Authority) occupied Shechem, advertising “Halal-כשר”. The Chief Rabbinate’s Kashrut Enforcement Division headed by Rabbi Rafi Yochai has been alerted of the PA-based hashgacha, warning the public not to rely on this symbol for true kashrus. The enforcement division points out that Crown techina is a product found in the marketplace bearing this so-called hashgacha, which seems to be growing in popularity in northern Israel.

The techina mentioned is manufactured in Shechem by Arabs, who are clueless regarding kashrus, and the Chief Rabbinate warns the symbol is meaningless for a Jew seeking kosher food.
