Two senior IDF officers are among the 12 persons arrested in an ongoing investigation into a scheme that involved conning the IDF out of millions of shekels. The investigation is being handled by Israel Police’s 433 Unit, the Major Crimes Unit. Two civilians employed by the IDF, a major and lt.-colonel were all taken into custody for allegedly accepting bribes and fraud. Most details of the ongoing probe remain under a court gag order, prohibiting their publication.
It is alleged that the military was billed using fictitious invoices via a complex scheme that was implemented, billing the IDF for items never purchased, netting the suspects millions.
The raid was launched on Monday, 26 Tishrei, as agents simultaneously raided homes and offices of the suspects, confiscating documents, computers and more.
