Thousands of Israelis were lined up at the Taba Crossing into Sinai on Monday, as they made their way to Sinai, most to vacation. Each and every person was reminded of the Bureau for Counterterrorism travel advisory, urging Israelis to avoid Sinai in light of credible intelligence community information of planned attacks against Israelis in Sinai.
The travel advisory urges Israelis to avoid Sinai, but it appears that warning fell on deaf ears as many are unwilling to forgo the bargain vacations offered by Sinai hotels, willing to place themselves in harm’s way towards creating summer vacation memories which we all pray will not chas v’sholom become vacation nightmares.
