Fearing increased rocket attacks from Sinai into Eilat, an Iron Dome System used to intercept short-range missiles has been deployed in Eilat.
The decision was made after Grad rockets were fired into the area last week. The Iron Dome was positioned on Sunday, Rosh Chodesh Elul 5772. It was placed several hundred meters from the NW residential area of the city, the daily HaMevaser reports, in the general area in which fragments of the katyusha rocket were found last week. The defensive system was placed in a mountainous area that is out of view from Route 12 as one enters the city, thereby providing coverage for the area between the city and Sinai.
Last week, an Iran Dome system was deployed in Tzfas as part of nationwide preparations to provide a response to incoming rockets over Israel’s international borders.
