The United Church of Canada, the largest Protestant Church in that country, voted to support a boycott of Israeli goods originating in “occupied areas” which includes Yehuda, Shomron, and eastern Yerushalayim. The church’s membership voted in favor of the boycott on Wednesday.
The boycott makes mention of the “Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories” and it viewed by church members as a significant step towards rectifying this injustice.
Responding to the news was Shimon Fogel of the Centre of Israel and Jewish Affairs, who stated “It is beyond comprehension the church would choose to so skew a commentary on the conflict and come out with so one-sided an approach.”
