Lahava Concerned as Sheirut Leumi Females Continue Involvement with Arab Men

Rabbonim and volunteers of the Lahava organization have many sleepless days as the trend of Jewish females becoming romantically involved with Arab men continues to become increasingly commonplace. Organization officials feel rabbonim responsible for the female volunteers of Sheirut Leumi cannot say ‘ידינו לא שפכו את הדם הזה’.

One case being addressed today is a female involved in a male nurse, an Arab man who is married and has children. This takes place in an Israeli hospital.

The Yerushalayim resident learned in a torani ulpana high school and a few months ago began a connection with an Arab male that she befriended in the hospital in which she volunteers. The female is aware of the Arab male’s marital status and his children but remains undeterred. Lahava notified hospital officials. When questioned by a hospital official, the nurse admitted to the relationship with the volunteer, adding it is none of the hospital’s business. He added Israel is a democratic country and as such, this is his right despite being married with a family.

Lahava adds that the ‘האגודה להתנדבות’ organization is responsible for the young lady is aware of the situation and is not taking action to transfer her to another location to complete here service.

Bentzi Gupstein, who heads the Lahava organization, laments the growing number of cases in which Jewish Sheirut Leumi volunteers become involved with Arab men. He feels the rabbonim are responsible for placing the young frum women in hospitals and other areas where they should be distanced from and as a result, they will be held accountable for the neshamas of these young frum women.

  1. Connecting such deviant behavior to Sherut Leumi is the worst kind on Lahson Harah. Does anyone really think that a girl who is involved with a married Arab man can be classified as a ‘young frum woman’? Without even knowing the particulars is it obvious such a troubled girl, or unfortunately others like her, would be equally ‘at risk’ whether she was part of Beis Yaakov or Bnei Akiva. Our troubled youth are a cross section of every idealogical group, and insuating that this is caused by national service is ridiculous and halachikly forbidden.

  2. And if she wasn’t a sherut leumi girl, but rather found work at a hospital? Or she volunteers as part of chessed? Arab men stock the shelves in chareidi supermarkets. We can’t keep girls locked up at home. They need to be EDUCATED! She had probably never been around boys before and all he had to do was show her a little attention. It could happen to a girl who gets a job for a respectable frum company located in an office building where the (arab) security guard flirts with her in and out of the door,.

  3. This is a problem that will only worsen as ARABS fill positions within Israeli society. These young girls must be supervised and reprimanded. Are her parents aware of this relationship? Soon Lev Achim will be required to use its resources, manpower and efforts to save another Jewish woman from disaster, injuries and possible death.

  4. Wait for the usual suspects to complain of our “racism” for being concerned about this. From the chiloni point of view this is a positive thing, rachmono litzlan!
