HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita has canceled his kabolas khal for this week, adding the time to his daily limud Torah, explaining this is the ultimate מנוחה טובה that he has.
Family members attempted to persuade the rav to take a vacation during bein hazmanim but the rav explained there is no need for him to go to a resort, explaining “If I have an additional hour to learn Torah, this is the best menucha tova for me”.
While the rav did not take a vacation, he did instruct his grandson HaRav Aryeh Kanievsky to take vacation with his children, explaining “You need koach to deal with the people who come to see me”.
This shabbos is the yahrzeit of the Kehillos Yaakov, the Steipler GaonZATZAL, and Rav Kanievsky will give his annual shiur on Friday night between kabolas shabbos and maariv in Bnei Brak’s Lederman Shul.

Far be it for me to question the rav’s judgement regarding how to best use his time but he looks, b’yh he is in very good health and for the same reasons he gave his grandson, he too needs some time off to recharge his batteries and sustain that good health for many years to come.
