The Holocaust Memorial Park is the latest victim of anti-Semitic vandalism in Brooklyn. The anti-Jewish graffiti, which was placed on the memorial, was discovered this morning at the West End Avenue Park. This episode joins a growing list of ominous incidents directed at Jewish neighborhoods in the past few years.
Assembly Candidate, Ben Akselrod and District Leader Candidate, Ari Kagan was quick to denounce this most recent event. “Ari and I are committed to stopping this trend of hatred that goes against everything this city believes in,” Akselrod said. “These kinds of disgusting, disgraceful acts have no place in Brooklyn and in our society.” “We all must stand united to tackle this problem in a way that discourages such reprehensible, cowardly acts,” Kagan added.
Both Akselrod and Kagan demand installation of video cameras that can be monitored to ensure that there are no more attacks on our beloved Holocaust Memorial Park
Akselrod and Kagan thank the 61st Police Precinct for acting hastily on this issue.
A survey published this year by the Anti-Defamation League stated that 2011 has seen an increase in anti-Semitism among Americans. According to the results of the survey, 15% of U.S. residents, numbering 35 million people, hold anti-Semitic beliefs.
