Where Assimilation Takes Us in Israel

The state prosecutor has handed down an indictment in the Beersheva District Court against a Jewish female who was romantically involved with an Arab male and allegedly gave him a gun, and a magazine with bullets. She was employed as a guard at a checkpoint. She is also accused of permitting Arabs to pass the checkpoint with an inspection and without the proper permits to enter into Israel proper.

The female is a resident of Beersheva, Reut Malinkar, who has been friendly with an Arab resident of the Southern Hebron Hills area over recent years. She was employed at the Meitar Checkpoint in the S. Hebron Hills area. She is accused of permitting Ahmad Alalimi and his friends to pass without inspection or permits. The indictment adds that when assigned as a school security guard for a period of time, she allegedly passed the weapon and ammunition to Alalimi.

Alalimi was also arrested for driving with a forged license. He was apprehended after he presented the forged license to a traffic policeman.

Officials of the Lahava organization that combats assimilation responded. “Once again this proves the assimilation problem is also a serious security problem. We call on the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) to combat this trend that endangers the State of Israel”.

Lahava officials insist this is unfortunately not an isolated incident.
