The nation’s Central Election Committee has announced it is prepared for general elections on 90 days notice. The statement was made to officials of the Knesset Audit Committee that wished to evaluate the preparedness of the election committee as is becomes increasingly likely the current administration will not complete its term.
Earlier in the week, MK (Likud) Ze’ev Elkin, the coalition chairman stated that if the coalition pushes in a direction that is contrary to the government’s policies, elections may be held in the beginning of 2013, stating the process would get underway as early as October 2013, after the Tishrei yomim tovim.
The audit committee was addressing portions of a state’s comptroller’s report that cited a lack of preparedness in the last election, but Central Election Committee officials announced this is not the case today.
