While the residents of the Gaza border communities may have grown accustomed to daily rocket fire, albeit continuing to call on the government to permit the IDF to act, potential tourists are not as willing to risk being in the area and the recent increase in rocket fire accompanied by the Kerem Shalom terror attack have hit that area’s tourism industry hard.
The main season for visitors to the area communities is now, during the summer months, but the increase in rocket fire into that area is keeping the visitors away, with many opting to go elsewhere and avoid the dangers that lurk in the communities that live the reality of around-the-clock readiness to run to a safe room or bomb shelter.
