The gunman who killed six people at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin was an Army veteran, according to multiple reports Monday.
The deceased suspect, who was himself shot after his shooting rampage, was Wade Michael Page, formerly attached to the Fort Bragg Army base in North Carolina, according to Fox News.
Page was 40 years old and served in the Army from April 1992 to October 1998, reports ABC News.
While the motive of the shooting remains unclear, ABC News suggests that he might have had ties to white supremacists because of his tattoos.
The gun that he used in the shooting was owned legally, CNN adds, citing a law enforcement source.

According to more detailed press reports, he was kicked out of the army (after being demoted from among other things being drunk on duty), was tied to neo-Nazi groups, and probably thought he was shooting Muslims (meaning he wasn’t too clever – the Sikhs are on our side in such matters – the Muslims don’t particularly like them).
While akuperma may be right about him mistaking Sikhs for Muslims, the terrorist is being called a white supremacist, in other words, an equal opportunity hater. It may not have made a difference to him, as long as his victims were not white Christians. We’ll probably never know.
Akuperma, what evidence is there, so far, that he was tied to anything neo-Nazi? So far all I’ve seen are allegations by the Southern Poverty Law Center, who are a despicable crew of scam artists who make money by whipping up people’s fear of nazis and klansmen. Nothing the SPLC can be trusted; if once in a while they turn out to have said something true, it’s only by coincidence.
Oh, and Akuperma, the shooter turns out not to have had a 9/11 tattoo. So we can scratch off that piece of evidence.
