Border Police Ordered to Remove Outpost on Shabbos

Anger can best describe the feeling among Kiryat Arba residents after border police arrived on shabbos to remove an area outpost. The troops arrived at Mitzpei Avichai on shabbos morning, an outpost that has been cleared and rebuilt dozens of times, but never on shabbos. The buildings were destroyed in front of the shocked residents, who never believed security forces would be sent on such a mission on shabbos.

MK (Ichud HaLeumi) Dr. Michael Ben-Ari has turned to Shas cabinet ministers in the hope of compelling them to demand an explanation for the unacceptable actions on shabbos. He reminded ministers that such actions are not carried out on shabbos, decrying the fact that soldiers were compelled to be mechalel shabbos to remove an outpost to “satisfy Defense Minister Ehud Barak’s political agenda”.

  1. Why were the Kiryat Arba residents angry? Israel is not a jewish country with any allegiance to Torah and / or mitzvos. Barak is only interested in satisfying his own ego. Who is G-d to stand in his way?
