Seeking to bypass the traffic snarls that are routine when traveling between Haifa and Akko, a new marine transportation route is being offered, a water shuttle from the Port of Akko to the Port of Haifa. The time for the shuttle adventure is 50 minutes, far less than dodging vehicular congestion, with experts explaining the trip will usually take 90 minutes by car in regular congestion. The downside is the new route is apparently intended for tourists and visitors for the 35 NIS ticket is quite costly, far more than a bus or train which are 15 NIS.

Haifa Mayor Yonah Yahav explains he has been working to launch this line since his first day in office, insisting the line has “great potential” and he feels both cities will benefit significantly from the new service. Akko Mayor Shimon Lankri agrees.
