Two New Jersey state troopers are expected to face criminal charges and disciplinary action Friday for escorting a convoy of luxury cars to Atlantic City down the Garden State Parkway.
Attorney General Jeff Chiesa and State Police Superintendent Rick Fuentes on Friday also will announce new guidelines for how to handle escorts.
On Thursday, Attorney Charles Sciarra said he believes State Police Sgt. Nadir Nassry faces charges related to the alleged taping of license plates on the sports cars during the March 30 caravan.
Sciarra said his client denies any knowledge of plate taping.
Nassry and another trooper were suspended without pay in April after witnesses said they saw the caravan speeding down the Garden State Parkway escorted by two state police cars.
Witnesses said that the state police patrol cars — with emergency lights flashing — were driving in front of and behind the caravan, which included Porsches, Lamborghinis and Ferraris at speeds of more than 100 mph.
