Some Kadima Defectors Looking Left of Center

While some Kadima members are trying to move over to the right to Likud, others are more aligned with the left-wing, loyalists to former party leader Tzipi Livni. According to members of Likud, former senior Labor and Kadima party official Chaim Ramon is spearheading this effort, looking to get the left-wing faction of Kadima out to another party, a new centrist party that he wishes to form in time for the next general elections.

According to Likud coalition leader MK Ze’ev Elkin quoted in the daily Post Chadashot, “Ramon and Livni will promise the world, even guaranteed slots just to hurt Likud and Netanyahu”. Ramon declined to comment on the report.

In the meantime, Labor Party leader MK Shelly Yacimovich is not ruling out the possibility that her party may pick up some disgruntled Kadima MKs but she told faction members at a meeting on Monday, 4 Menachem Av 5772 she is not willing to promise them secure slots or any similar deal.
