First Public Hearing Set For Bloomberg’s Big Drink Ban Proposal

New Yorkers will finally get a chance to weigh in on Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s proposal to ban super sized sugary drinks.

Emotions are likely to run high as those both for and against the big drink ban face off for the first time Tuesday at a public hearing in Queens.

The mayor’s proposal would put a 16-ounce limit of sugary drinks sold at city restaurants, movie theaters, sports
venues and street carts and would apply to both bottled and fountain drinks.

The first public hearing on the proposal is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 42-09 28th Street in Queens.
