Seeking to get to know chareidim up front and in person, a delegation of senior IDF officers traveled to Bnei Brak get a look at Ponevezh from the inside and to see the torah city and the lifestyle of its chareidi residents.
According to a Ladaat.net report, the officers arrived in Bnei Brak City Hall, where they were greeted by Rav Chanoch Ziebert, the acting mayor. Dr. Tzuriel Roshi, an expert on communications and political science delivered a fascinating lecture to the officers on the media and chareidim. Following the lecture they met with heads of the IAF Shachar program who briefed them on chareidim entering the military. From there they went to Ponevezh where they were greeted by Rav Yosef Kahanaman, one of the roshei yeshiva.
The officers stopped and spoke with talmidim and avreichim as well, and then Rav Moshe Abutbul gave them a tour of the building while explaining the importance of constant torah study.
The officers were also shown an array of projects, chessed and otherwise headed by chareidim.

Was it Rav Yosef Kahanaman? Who’s son is he? Or is it meant to be R’ Leizer Kahanaman?
Ponevetz is the place to visit for IDF officers, there they will be received with honor & respect as always.

Isn’t it really really sad when Jewish Israeli soldiers need a tour like this, not so dissimilar to the one given to the Japanese lawyers representing the bachurim held in Japan, to be shown the mindset and lifestyle of charedim otherwise they would not understand them fully or appreciate how they think!
