For the first time in a number of years, 50 mispallalim traveled to Petra, Jordan for the yahrzeit of Aaron HaCohen on Rosh Chodesh Av, the daily HaMevaser reports. The event was organized by the ‘צדיקי עולם’ organization in cooperation with the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism, which provided Jordanian security forces to protect the group. A special permit was granted for mispallalim to bring talis and tefillin.
The group left on Wednesday 28 Tammuz 5772 and spent the night in a hotel, once again under the watchful eye of Jordanian security forces. In the morning, they traveled to Petra on camels and 4-wheel drive vehicles, and then davened shachris. A minyan of kohanim recited Birkas Kohanim with enthusiasm according to participants. They then recited tehillim and upon completing tefilos, they began their journey home.

Just curious. Do we know this is Kever Ahron HaKohen or are we relying on the Jordanians say so?
there’s a twin-peaked mountain there, which fits Rashi’s description of Hor Hahar, and there’s a shrine on that mountain, so they put 2 & 2 together
Devar yadua. Jews have been going there for, well a long long long time.
National Geographic even did an article with pictures of Aharon HaKoheins kever in it. jan 76.
Its too bad we dont haev access to good pictures of the site.
Rav Kaduri ZL used to go there with King Hussein of Jordan too.
Everyone wants tourist shekels
And if it is the burial of Ahron Hakohein, are Kohanim allowed there? Not poshut.
Interesting that Birchos Cohanim was said being that the area is not currently part of Israel.
I was there about 15 years ago. Its the real thing. Didn’t get any help from the Jordanians, actually they make it difficult to get there if you don’t have connections.
me too wonder how anyone knows where Aaron’s kever is?
