Israel Radio quoting official Bulgarian news reports on Sunday morning states that the bombing attack in Burgas was intended to be far more serious. In fact, experts theorize the bomber did not plan to be a suicide bomber, but planned to rest the explosive device on the bus transporting Israelis to their hotel and detonate in transit. Instead, the bomb blew up in the waiting area as the Israelis were boarding. A total of six people were killed including a local bus driver. The seventh body what that of the bomber.
Israel Radio states the Bulgarian reports quote local police sources as stating the bomber did not plan to detonate himself as is evident by the way the explosive was carried, but details as to what leads to this determination are not furnished.
In short, Bulgarian investigators are quoted as saying that the attack was intended to be far more deadly but due to mishandling of the explosive device it appears that it detonated prematurely.
