With the scheduled opening of the London Olympic Games less than a week away, the Sunday Times reports that Mossad Intelligence Agency agents have been sent to London. Fears surround assessments that last week’s terror attack in Bulgaria against an Israeli tour group was just an “introduction” of what is planned against Israelis during the Olympic Games. The Mossad agents are monitoring Iranian activities in London and elsewhere in Europe in the hope of learning about and preventing attacks surrounding the international sporting event.

The first IAF Hercules transport flight that arrived in Burgas following that attack carried two teams, agents of the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) and Mossad.

Preliminary reports from the bomb scene based on Bulgarian officials stated the bomber placed the explosive device on the bus. After the Israeli experts viewed the surveillance videos, that theory changed to a suicide bomber, based in part on the way the bomber was carrying the bag as he was viewed in the terminal. The Americans, also involved in the investigation, feel Hizbullah is behind the attack which was to avenge the killing of a top nuclear scientist, which Iran blames on the Mossad.

The daily Maariv reports the fact that the suicide bomber carried a bogus Michigan driver’s license supports the Hizbullah theory since that US state has the largest Lebanese population in the USA.

The Sunday Times report adds that the Israeli expects are absolutely certain that the attack was not an isolated incident but a trial balloon, and experts are confident that Hizbullah and Iran are returning to major operations in Europe, and the London Games are perfect venue to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the terror attack at the Munich Olympic Games.

Mossad officials in Israel B’chasdei Hashem prevented 20 attacks in a bit more than a year and they are now reviewing many intelligence reports in the hope of seeing what they missed towards preventing another Olympic Games attack.

Back in Burgas the manhunt for a second terrorist continues as the Israeli experts appear convinced the suicide bomber was not acting alone and a second terrorist may still be at large. Mossad information points to a male named David Jefferson as that person, the man who assisted the bomber.

Maariv reports “dozens of agents” arrived last week following the attack and they are operating on European soil to prevent addition terror attacks. Investigators are hoping to list DNA from the remains of the explosive device. Investigators realize that any information pertaining to the type of bomb and its components may shine a ray of light on where components were purchased and if the bomb was locally assembled or brought in assembled and from where.

The Shin Bet agents operating in Burgas are seeking to understand the realities of that location and the ongoing probe may lead to new security regulations and precautions for future Israeli groups to Burgas.
