An indictment was filed against Amjad Jabarin, 35, of Um el-Fahm, who assisted the terrorists who carried out the attack, in which the two policemen were murdered on Har Habayis: Hayil Sethawi and late Kamil Shanan.
The indictment submitted to the Haifa District Court shows that Jabarin knew the two terrorists, Muhammad Jabarin and Muhammad Hamed Jabarin, during prayers at a mosque affiliated with the Islamic Movement. He participated in the squad’s firing training in the period prior to the attack and planned with them the details of the attack. He even drove them on the day of the attack to the point of transportation from which they left for Har Habayis. Apparently, the man who was photographed next to the cell members on the security cameras before the attack had nothing to do with the plan of the attack, and in any case, it was not an assistant who was accused in the indictment.
The Shin Bet notes that during the interrogation of Amjad Jabarin, who was a relative of the attackers, it emerged that the terrorists had spoken before the attack about their intention to carry out a shooting attack, and was even offered to join them to carry out the attack on at least two occasions.
At the end of June, Amjad arrived at night to take them to a shooting practice. About a week later, he drove them to another shooting training. Amjad Jabarin traveled with the terrorists to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. When they arrived in Jerusalem, and after parking their car in the area adjacent to Har Habayis, the three walked through the Huta gate. After entering the Al-Aqsa compound, Amjad heard Hamed talking with Muhammad about the presence of security cameras there. On July 14, Amjad heard from one of the terrorists who almost carried out the attack and that two of them were on their way to the organized transportation. At the last minute Muhammad informed them that he could not join because he quarreled with his fiancée and asked them to return.
The findings also indicated a clear link between the mosque and the northern branch of the Islamic Movement, which was declared an illegal association in November 2015 and is now considered a terrorist organization. In addition, contacts were identified between the terrorists and the Islamic Movement, whether in support of ideas disseminated by the movement or in the organizations affiliated with the movement.
Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan responded to the publication of the arrest and the indictment against Amjad Jabarin for his involvement in the attack on Hara Habayis. “The indictment against Jabarin proves once again how much the decision I made to remove the northern branch of the Islamic Movement was true, And the despicable incitement of Raed Salah regarding the Al-Aqsa Mosque leads young people to acts of murder and terror. I hope that both Jabarin and the instigator Raed Salah will be sent this time to prison for many years.”
