The levaya for Maran Posek HaDor HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv ZTV”KL will take place tonight, Wednesday, the eve of 29 Tammuz 5772. The levaya will begin at the home of the niftar, Chanan Street, Malchei Yisrael, Sarei Yisrael and then to Givat Shaul to Har Menuchos. Police report that changes are likely due to expected heavy traffic congestion.

While there were rumors the kvura will be in Har HaZeisim, it is now being reported officially that the kvura will be in Har Menuchos.

Egged has already announced that beginning at about 18:30, there will be additional buses running from the center and other areas of the country to Yerushalayim to permit as many people as possible to attend the levaya of the posek hador.

Police and emergency medical service agencies are consulting to prepare for the levaya which according to most accounts will bring hundreds of thousands of people to the capital. Anyone planning to attend the levaya is urged to bring water as temperatures in Yerushalayim are still quite warm and the forecast for the nighttime is unseasonably hot.

R’ Meir Porush is currently in Shaare Zedek along with Rav Yosef Efrati Shlita and others as they finalize levaya plans.

It appears that one of the considerations for making the levaya tonight is the heat-wave that is forecasted to continue Thursday will create a difficult situation for EMS, police and all involved as they feel hundreds of thousands will come to be melave the meis of the posek hador.
