Fifty IDF ground forces bases will be fortified with advanced protection against high trajectory rockets, against terrorist infiltration and thefts of military equipment.
In the area of rocket-fire, new shelters are being installed, called Rachav-Am, in memory of the assassinated cabinet minister Rechavam Ze’evi HY”D. The work will be carried out by the Ekerstein Company in conjunction with the IDF corps of engineers. Each mini shelter will accommodate 20 adults, providing “hermetic coverage”. Officials add the new shelters will exceed the coverage provided by anything used today and a soldier will have equal protection no matter where he stands in the mini shelter.
Some of the advantages include their weight, much lighter than anything being used today to facilitate transport from one place to another. There will also be significantly improved ventilation.
The plan is labeled as a major multiyear plan that will begin with ground forces bases and then expand to others. Some of the units are already being tested in a number of bases. Officials involved in the program explain they are hopeful the security against thefts and attacks will provide protection for the coming years and to achieve this goal, the military is using the best technology has to offer.

The Israeli government has totally lost their minds! Instead of constantly trying to build better and better protection against rocket fire, they should be using their military might to eliminate the source of this rocket fire. This means a major military offensive which finally convinces the perah adam that firing rockets just aint worth it!
