MK David Azoulay requested that Civil Service Commissioner Moshe Dayan include Purim on the list of authorized holidays. Dayan turned down the request explaining that since the different areas of the country observe Purim on different days; it would result in too much confusion. Dayan suggests that workers use Purim as one of their two annual personal days.

In that same letter he announced that he has decided however to include Tisha B’Av on the list of approved days off beginning this year.
