The Jordanian al-Rad newspaper released the identity of the Israeli Embassy security agent who killed his attacker in the recent screwdriver attack. He also caused the death of a second man, the owner of the apartment where the attack occurred.
The newspaper report contained the agent’s name, Ziv Moiyal, as well as his photo.
Israel and Jordan for that matter have refrained from releasing the agent’s name and some feel that the diplomatic crisis that has followed the incident, strained relations between Jerusalem and Amman, led to the decision to publish the information.
For the time being, Israeli Ambassador to Jordan Einat Schlein and her associates are not being permitted back into the embassy by Jordan, with the latter insisting a probe into the fatal incident must launched. Israel has announced that Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit is overseeing such a probe.
Last week, hundreds of angry Jordanians took to the streets near the embassy calling on their government to cancel the peace treaty with Israel.
