Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) announced $825,000 in Department of Homeland Security grants that will go toward protecting 11 vulnerable non-profit organizations in his congressional district against terrorist attacks.
Nadler played a major role in providing high-risk non-profits federal funding for security measures through the High-Risk Non-Profit Security Enhancement Act, legislation he authored to create grants for safety measures in schools, places of worship and other “soft targets” which do not currently have the proper means to protect themselves from an attack. Nadler worked closely with the United Jewish Communities, the American Red Cross, the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations, United Way, the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, the American Hospital Association, and the UJA Federation of New York in order to secure funding for this critical purpose.
