Queens: MTA Police Officer Stabbed In Face; Suspect Shot dead


An MTA cop is fighting for his life and a perpetrator is dead after an altercation at the LIRR Jamaica station in Queens, authorities said.

The violence broke out at 9:32 a.m. near Sutphin Boulevard and Jamaica Avenue, said a spokesman for the FDNY.

The MTA officer was taken to Jamaica Hospital with injuries to his face, police said. The officer was stabbed in the eye. The extent of the injuries is not known, but authorities said that the officer was believed to be in critical condition.

The perpetrator, who was an emotionally disturbed person, died at the scene, police said.
