Macy’s is gearing up for its 36th annual Fourth of July Fireworks show.
“Every year there’s something new,” executive produce Amy Kule said.
The night sky over the Hudson River will be aglow with 40,000 fireworks, featuring 15 colors and 30 shapes, on Wednesday.
One of the expected highlights this year is called the “octopus.”
“When this firework goes up into the sky it’s a burst of red, it’s another burst of white and then miraculously eight red arms come flying out of the sides,” Kule said.
The fireworks will be synched to music that the public voted for online to create what Kule calls “America’s mix tape.”
The soundtrack features Taylor Swift, Lee Greenwood and Ray Charles.
The fireworks will be launched from four barges between 18th and 43rd Streets.
The show lasts 25 minutes.
