In a plea bargain agreement between his attorney and the prosecution, HaGaon HaRav Avraham Yosef will step down as Chief Rabbi of Holon, the result of a plea bargain agreement in his indictment, which was filed in 2015.
According to the Yisrael Hayom report, the rav was convicted of breach of trust has agreed not to run for another position in the Rabbanut for the next seven years. The rav will also be compelled to suspend himself from the Chief Rabbinate Council and pay a 75,000 NIS fine.
Rabbi Yosef was found guilty of promoting Badatz Beit Yosef, headed by a brother, Rabbi Moshe Yosef, thereby abusing his authority as the city’s chief rabbi. He was also responsible for the kashrus of Ohr Yehuda.
Tel Aviv District Court Vice President Justice Tzachi Uziel accepted the agreement, which compels the deal to go into effect after the Tishrei Yomim Tovim.

ok. bad – only 7 years. good – any rabbinical position. past experience was a CR of TA stepping down in a plea deal and then becoming CR of Israel. while now in jail, he caused undue trouble to the office.
I was shocked to find hat Jack Daniels Honey which the OK OU and Star K did not recommend drinking suddenly appeared in Israel with the Badatz Beif Yosef. I spoke to my rav and he recommended heeding the OK, OU and Star K and stay away from it.
Jack Daniels is an American company and if the American hecksers do not approve of it, how did the Badatz Beif Yosef suddenly decide to give it a hecksher?
Seems that for money the Badatz Beif Yosef will certify anything for money…. Best to be very care about their products. I won’t put one in my house.
Disgusting how they dont care to be mevazeh a talmid chacham.
Btw, Badatz Beit Yosef is an extremly transparent hechsher. You can call them right up and they tell you exactly what their policy is on any product of theirs. They will sometime also put you in touch with the mashciagh who visits that specific plant and you can ask him questions. You might not hold of everything they hold of, but its very easy to find out what they are relying on.
Garlic’s conclusion that they will “certify anything for money” is not just malicious (and inappropriate to publish). It’s just plain ignorant. There are differences between poskim based on halacha. The fact that one hechsher does not approve of something does not disqualify a hechsehr that does. The only thing that is definitiely treif in this is Garlic’s motzi shem ra.
