Con Edison of New York and union leaders are negotiating at the Hilton Rye Town in Westchester County as a midnight-strike deadline looms.
8,500 workers could walk off the job on Saturday night if the two sides can’t reach a deal. And with this second heat wave in full swing, Con Ed is calling the threat a dangerous game while union members continue to work outdoors to keep the power on.
In a statement, Con Ed said, “We look forward to productive discussions with the union leadership on a new contract that is fair and equitable for our employees and customers.”
