Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman came under a fiery verbal assault while visiting Bedouin communities in southern Israel on Wednesday morning, 7 Tammuz 5772. Lieberman commented that it is inacceptable that communities like Beit El and Migron are compelled to evacuate homes to comply with the law while there are thousands of illegal homes in the Bedouin sector and no one utters a word.
Lieberman visit el-Zanug to get a firsthand look at the widespread illegal construction, calling to raze the illegal homes.
His statements were enough for Bedouin MK Talab al-Sana to launch a scathing attack at Lieberman, calling him a “fascist” and “terrorist”. Lieberman, who is not known for his being timid retorted, calling “all Arab MKs terrorists”, adding they all support terrorist organizations.
Residents of the Bedouin community sent a clear message to Lieberman, that he is not welcome, seeking to block the road to his entourage. Many residents opted to mark the visit by flying a black flag.
Lieberman told al-Sana that he remains hopeful that following elections his Yisrael Beitenu party will be the largest and then they will take care of the issue of the widespread illegal Bedouin housing.
