A Lakewood family was involved in a serious accident in Toms River this afternoon, leaving five of eight members of the family injured, TLS is reporting.

The accident occurred about 6:00 PM about five minutes south of Lakewood.

Multiple Hatzolah BLS and ALS units responded to the scene, and upon their arrival, Hatzolah immediately dispatched two chopper for patients in critical condition.

One patient was was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center, two others were transported with Paramedics and two others were transported with BLS units.

All five members of the family were transported to Jersey Shore Hospital, and are said to be in serious condition.

Two of the other vehicle’s occupants were transported to local hospitals. Their condition is unknown at this time.
