Shaare Zedek Medical Center Director, Prof. Yonatan Halevy, sharply criticizes Health Minister Yaakov Litzman and says: “His conduct and the way he took to resolve the fire at Hadassah was a rife of mistakes.”
Professor Halevi said this in an interview with Noam Zeigman on Kol Baramah Radio, adding: “Litzman can still retract.” He stressed that he had great appreciation for Litzman, but he was wrong. When asked about the establishment of a department at Shaare Zedek, Professor Halevy said that there was no room for two departments in Jerusalem. But if there is no department in Hadassah that has public trust, there is room to establish such a department at Shaare Zedek. He clarified: “I will not open beds without the approval of the Health Ministry.”
He added, “the poor of one’s city comes first”, citing the need to get the unit up and running.
On Wednesday morning 4 Tammuz, the doctors and Hadassah administration convened a mediation meeting headed by retired High Court Justice Elyakim Rubinstein, who yesterday received the mandate from the High Court, to be the mediator for this painful issue.
