Following recent incidents during which Arabs bombarded Kever Rachel with rocks and firebombs, compelling security forces to lock Jews inside for their own safety; new measures have been taken to permit security forces to respond to future attacks.
Two holes, windows, have been cut into the extremely thick cement barrier walls and appropriate glass will be installed. The windows however can be opened, and they will provide border police a view of the attackers during an incident, and permit them to return fire via the cut outs.
In the previous attacks, security forces were simply compelled to act defensively only as they were unable to see the attackers standing on the Beit Lechem side of the high cement security barrier.
