The results of the Lakewood elections are in, and Republican Michael D’Elia and Democrat Ray Coles are the winners in today’s primaries.
The Lakewood Township is run by five individuals comprising the “Township Committee,” each elected to a three-year term. Most of the decisions in the Township boil down to these five individuals.
Elections are staggered; meaning rather than electing all five members simultaneously, the residents elect a few at a time. This year, two of the five were up for re-election: Mayor Ray Coles, a Democrat; and Committeeman Mike D’elia, a Republican.
