MK (Ichud HaLeumi) Dr. Michael Ben-Ari is working to show just how hypocritical the Knesset is regarding the issue of illegal aliens from Eritrea and Sudan.
Last year, Ben-Ari surprised swimmers at the Gordon poll on the Tel Aviv coast when he appeared at the exclusive venue with 40 Sudanese and Eritreans towards showing the Tel Aviv libertarians that they are simply a bunch of hypocrites since they portray themselves as the defenders of rights for the Eritreans while for as long as they in the southern areas of the city, not the elite northern areas.
Ben-Ari now wants to bring them to the Knesset, the sacred halls of Israel’s democracy, requesting permission to host 100 guests for a day, illegals from Sudan and Eritrea, the very same people who have been terrorizing southern Tel Aviv with violent attacks and thefts.
In his letter sent to Knesset Director-General Dan Landau, Ben-Ari wrote “I turn to you as the head of the lobby championing the rights of victims of these illegal aliens as well as seeking the rights of southern Tel Aviv residents. As a gesture to these neighborhoods, I wish to invite 100 illegals for a day in Knesset. They will visit with MKs in the restaurant; observe committee meetings and a plenum session. They will be given a tour of the building as well”.
“In my opinion, such a day will have significant importance and a double benefit. For those MKs who speak about the infiltrators without any familiarity can get to know them first hand and obtaining a small feeling of what life is like for the southern Tel Aviv residents whose neighborhood is overrun with illegal aliens.
On the other hand, this is a humanitarian gesture towards the illegals that will have opportunity o speak with MKs and explain their difficult plight.
Ben-Ari asks if the MKs who are fighting on behalf of the illegals will take them home to meet with their families or perhaps their kindness and concerns for human rights only come into play when they are on the chesbon of the residents of southern Tel Aviv.
In a related matter, the daily Yisrael HaYom reports Interior Minister Eli Yishai has ordered authorities to begin arresting infiltrators at the border and imprison them for three years. Yishai is aware of the overcrowding in prisons and he realizes this will compel the construction of detention centers near the border. Yishai explains that pending a High Court of Justice decision, the infiltrators already in the country may not be deported.
