A friend of the chosson collapsed on Wednesday night, at Wolf Hall during a chasnah in Yerushalayim. His condition on Thursday is described as “life threatening”.
MDA and Ichud Hatzalah were summoned as the chasnah came to an abrupt halt after the male collapsed. He was transported to a local hospital in very serious condition.
Ichud EMT Aaron Baak, who was among the first on the scene explained there was pandemonium. He evaluated the patient, realizing he was in cardiac arrest and began CPR. They were successful in restoring a spontaneous pulse Baruch Hashem. Guests added that while the first responders of Ichud Hatzalah arrived immediately, the ambulance response was delayed, some saying as much as 20 minutes. They add that while they realize when one is waiting time seems like an eternity, but in this case the response was indeed delayed.
The tzibur is asked to be mispallel for Mordechai Shlomo ben Esther.

May he have a refuah shelamah! Very bad news about the ambulance delay but at least Hatzalah arrived quickly to perform CPR. Sadly, ambulance delays aren’t unique to Israel…here in Los Angeles it’s common to wait that long for an ambulance too, very frightening.
His name is Mordechai Shlomo ben Esther Yehudis
I sincerely hope alcohol played no part in this.
Did anybody try to do CPR on him while they were waiting for the ambulance to arrive? There is a strong medical opinion that doing CPR chest compression’s without doing any rescue breathing is as important as if done with rescue breathing.
Since doing just chest compression (100 compression’s per minute) isn’t nearly as frightening as rescue breathing, it should at least have been performed while waiting.
There is no liability on the volunteer rescuer either due to good Samaritan laws.
Delay may have been increased by traffic, which in that area is anything but good.
The bigger question is did they call BOTH MDA and Ichud or only Ichud, sadly due to the stupid infighting between the organizations Ichud was ‘forced’ to set up it’s own hotline (since MDA did not want to pass them the calls, on the other hand Ichud is very good at listening in on MDA), however when Ichud is called an ambulance is often only called after Ichud first responders arrive on the scene and determine that one is indeed needed potentially adding a significant delay.
I hope the govt. here will finally unify the emergency# and put an end to this crazy fight between organizations that are trying to do the same thing.
Oh and as 2morecents said compressions even without rescue breathing are very important.
I can’t help but notice how YWN has it in for Ichud Hatzolah. This is the third news article in the past two weeks praising IH while bashing MDA, openly or in this case between the lines. Just a hunch.
#5, Did you really mean to write that Israel has a “good Samaritan” law?! Do they also have a “good Palestinian” law?
@ #3 Wiy, Alcohol had NO part in this at all. I was there. He is a very chosheve bochur and is full name is Mordechai Shlomo ben Esther Yehudis.
Tefilos are still needed. Oh and it took the ambulance 35 minutes to arrive…
