Chabad Rabbonim & Mashpi’im to Address Internet Concerns

Even before rabbonim shlita in the United States decided on the internet kenos being held in CitiField on Sunday night, Rabbonim and mashpi’im in Chabad decided to hold an internet kinnos this week in the 770 building in Ramat Shlomo in Yerushalayim.

The impetus behind the kinnos is Rabbi Dovid Weiss, the director of Merkaz Ohr Chinuch, the daily HaMevaser reports.

The event is expected to last for five hours and rabbonim who will address the kinnos include (in order of their scheduled appearance at the kenos) HaRav Yitzchak Yehuda Yeruslavsky (Secretary of Chabad Beis Din), Rav Yosef Yitzchak Vilshansky (Rosh Yeshivas Chabad Tzfat), HaRav B. Zilberstrum, Rav Dovid Meir Druckman (Mora D’asra Kiryat Motzkin), special guest from the USA Rav Zalman Leib Markowitz, and Rabbi Shmuel Ashkenazi (Mora D’asra Kfar Chabad and member of Beis Din). Many others will be speaking as well.

The kinnos will be closed by HaGaon HaRav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg. The kinnos is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 3 Sivan 5772.

HaMevaser reports it has learned that following the event, rabbonim shlita are expected to release well-defined guidelines regarding internet and electronic devices.

  1. Lubavitch is such a capable and powerful organization with such a tremendous infrustructure of Kiruv all over the world. It’s just too bad that they don’t seem to be able to combat the false Messianism which so many of them are infected by.

  2. #1: In comparison with the WHOLE Chabad community there are so FEW people who believe in the “false Messianism.” Saying that many of the Chbadniks are infected by the false messianism is like saying most of the jews in the world are part of the Neturei Karta.
🙂 Otherwise the first sentence of your comment was true, and very commendable. Kol Hakavod

  3. #2 Interesting… If it’s so few of them why do I keep comming across them? Also when you write “false Messianism” in quotation marks is it just because you are quoting me? (sorry, just checking…)

In any case, does Lubavitch shun and excommunicate the people that beleive the Lubavitch Rebbe is Moshiach the way we all justifiably do to the Jews who support the terrorists?

  4. #1: Yes, I’m quoting u.
And i dont know if they excommunicate them, but many feel that the people who believe the Rebbe is Moshiach, are mishugoyim.
In my family, we consider them as being in denial… but that’s just my fam..

  5. I still fail to see why chabad cannot believe the Rebbes Moshiach halachically. Its clearly out of my comfort zone- but that in no way makes it wrong. If u believe in the sifrei kodesh than there’s wat to be somech on.

  6. #5 Your comment somewhat vague, But I hope this will address, the Moshiach with the promise of Hashem (as brought down in Rambam) will bring the ENTIRE Jewish people to ENTIRELY serve Hashem. Insisting on anyone else as Moshiach no matter how great he may seem is belittiling the promise that Hashem gave us that these things which did not yet happen will indeed happen when Hashem will send us Moshiach.

  7. #6, That is what Jews have traditionally believed, but there’s no requirement to believe it. It’s not an ikkar in emunah, and there are some sources that can be read otherwise. One who does not believe this is just as kosher a Jew as one who does.

#7, You are assuming what you’re trying to prove. Engaging in circular logic. Begging the question. If the LR does turn out to be Moshiach, then “insisting” on him is not belittling anything. And if someone else turns out to be Moshiach then of course everyone will accept him. So where is this “belittling”? You and I admit that we don’t know who Moshiach is. These people have a theory; who’s to say they’re wrong?
