Mikvah Built at Segev Shalom Slaughter House

One of the problems faced by many shochtim in Eretz Yisrael is their day begins very early, before most people are awake, and for those shochtim who wish to toivel before work find themselves in a difficult situation.

Seeking to meet the challenge, a mikve was built in Israel’s largest poultry slaughter house, Ohf Ohz in the community of Segev Shalom in southern Israel. The Mikvah construction was supervised by Rav Shmuel Levine and it is said to have been constructed to incorporate chumras and hiddurim to accommodate everyone.

The Mikvah will accommodate 100 shochtim, mashgichim and other staff members in a plant that slaughters an average of 110,000 birds daily. The plan is ultra modern and is comparable to some of the most modern slaughterhouses found in the world today.

The factory is under the hashgacha of Rabbanut mehadrin.

  1. “Those shochtim who wish to toivel before work”? Does that mean the Rabbanut mehadrin doesn’t require it?!
