Another social injustice rally was held in Israel, in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square. Several thousand participants were on hand in what some hope marked a renewed effort to pressure the government to place the social agenda atop the government’s list of priorities.
Police reported that at least nine people were arrested as they tried to block vehicular traffic as participants carried signs demanding reduced prices on basic food items, fair housing and other issues that appear all but forgotten since last summer’s effort. Smaller protests were held in other cities around the country as well including Haifa, Kiryat Shmona and Jerusalem.
Organizers called the government’s response to date nothing more than “cosmetic” and they insist they will continue the struggle until true social justice becomes a national priority.

“Social justice” is inherently unjust. Call it by its name: envy and theft. The Torah says לא תשא פני דל. Tzedokoh is a separate mitzvah, but it has nothing to do with justice.
Note that the sign in the picture is protesting against free newspapers! Apparently part of social justice is making people pay for their news.
