Egyptian officials on Thursday, reported they intercepted an arms shipment which was intended for Sinai. The weaponry included should held missiles and anti-tank rockets, originating in Libya.

The news of the report is in line with Israeli intelligence reports that warn Sinai is rapidly becoming a major terrorist base, due in no small part due to the collapse of the Mubarak government.

Some reports signal the arms were intended for rebel forces in Egypt but there is always the fear they are intended for use by Israel’s enemies as officials in Jerusalem continue monitoring events in Sinai together with the unfolding political scene in Cairo.
