Doctors in Shaare Zedek Medical Center detected a systemic infection as the cause the febrile condition of Maran Posek HaDor HaGaon HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita but they have not been successful in treating the infection.
The rav has been admitted to an intensive care unit of the hospital for over two months, and in recent days the rav developed a fever which is now attributed to the infection.
An atzeres is planned for Thursday, 18 Iyar and every Thursday thereafter until the rav’s condition improves. The tefilla will take place at the caravan shul and Tehillim and 13 Midos HaRachamim will be said.
Today, Tuesday, 15 Iyar 5772 Rabbi Elimelech Fuehrer is expected to visit the gadol hador’s ICU bed accompanied by Professor Shapira, an internationally renowned expert in infectious diseases. The professor will examine the rav and then brief the medical team in the hope of finding a solution.
During recent weeks, the rav’s condition improved slightly and the assisted ventilations have been halted as was the medically induced coma. There are minyanim in the rav’s room and rabbonim add that the rav has “responded somewhat” from time-to-time.
The tzibur is requested to continue being mispallel for Rav Yosef Sholom ben Chaya Musha b’soch kol cholei am yisrael.

May Moreinu Harav Hagaon R’Yosef Shalom ben Chaya Musha Elyashiv have a refuah sheleima b’karov. We need him so much.
In light of how little, if anything, we have been told about the condition of the Rav, and his cerebral function, in particular, I sincerely doubt that ” he has responded somewhat”. It is nice to be optimistic, but a bit of realism is needed.
One can only pray that Shamayim declares itself at the right time.
Does anyone know anything about Rov Belsky’s condition?

Why the grandstanding by Rabbi Elimelech Fuehrer, that the world needs to know that HE will be visiting and bringing in Professor Shapira?
Even as he lies in the hospital unconscious, Rav Elyashiv is surrounded by those who latch on to him for the sake of their own kavod.
