Jerusalem city officials continue efforts to find a solution that will permit Meah Shearim’s residents to throw out trash while removing the trash bins used by the sikrikim, who set them ablaze in the middle of streets any time they feel a need to protest.
It appears City Hall and sanitation officials have found a new garbage dumpster, one that cannot be moved from its stationary position. Emptying the trash by sanitation workers will be accomplished by the use of a special crane that lifts the contents out of the new bins.
These new bins are being installed with the hope that residents will still receive the basic service of trash removal while sikrikim will no longer be capable of dragging the dumpsters into the streets to set them ablaze and block vehicular routes.
Some residents feel that sadly, the sikrikim will find a way to ruin these new bins as they have done to the others in the past.

The fact that neither the leadership of the Hareidi community, nor the government, seem to be in control of the situation speaks poorly for both. Anarchy never leads to anything good.
akuperma, why don’t you run for office either in the US or Israel, or both? It’s election time. You seem to have the answers to all our problems.
How exactly does this stop them from setting the garbages ablaze?
#2- Politics is best left to the children. Old people have seen it all, and know in the end everything will be as HaShem has decided, and we are largely irrelevant. Read Shlomo’s book on the subject.
These Sikrikim are causing major harm to Klal Yisroel. Burning garbage bags and spitting on little girls misrepresents what true Torah Judiasem should stand for. The Eida Chareidis should decry this situation until it stops, or they are in no way associated with it.
Old age is the best time to get involved with community and country happenings since the fire & passion is reduced and sechel is improved.
Afraid #5 that the Eida likes the role that the Sikrikim plays, rumble rousers are a necesity to some.
#3, there’s no point in burning garbage in situ; it’s not as if they get their jollies from burning things. The point is to start a fire in a place where it blocks traffic and makes life miserable for everyone; if they can’t move the bins then they can’t do that.
#3 it wont stop them setting the garbages ablaze but they will be placed where if set alight they will not block roads.
BTW we’re missing you in the coffee room, uneeq!! 🙁
