The following statement was released by the Rabbinical Conference of Europe on Sunday, following the announced victory in the French elections.
“We congratulate Francois Hollande upon his election as President of the French Republic, and wish him every success for the next five years.
“We alert the president-elect on the resurgence of anti-Semitism and insecurity in Europe and France in particular and the need to vigorously fight it regardless of its origin.
“We express our deep concern about the growing intolerance of religious freedom in everyday life, respectful of republican values”.

One Response
1. So does he favor “Freedom of Religion” or “Freedom from Religion” (as indicated by “republican values”)
2. His economic policy makes one think of those followed by Germany in the early 1920s, and we know where those led (which is why it seems the Germans are the only Europeans concerned about it)
